About Us

A Therapeutic Practice, and a Multiservice Organisation

Chitambo Multisupport Services is a multiservice organisation supporting children, individuals, families and older adults across the Goulburn Region and Melbourne North to live safer, stronger and more empowered lives.

Our particular strength is therapeutic work with children and families. Play interventions, child and family counselling, sand play and narrative approaches, and trauma-informed and family violence-informed therapeutic support are the centre of our practice โ€” for people from around three years of age through to adults. Access to specialised, child-centred, culturally responsive therapy is genuinely scarce in the communities we work in, and closing part of that gap is why the organisation exists.

Around that therapeutic core we deliver a broader set of services with the same team: child and family wellbeing support, advocacy and practical support, NDIS-funded supports, home and lifestyle support, cleaning services, aged care and older adult support, and community transport. Some are funded, some are privately arranged, and most families use two or three of them at once.

Our approach is trauma-informed, culturally responsive and strengths-based. We work with people, not just for them, tailoring support to individual goals and fostering stability, independence and long-term wellbeing.

At Chitambo, we believe everyone deserves to feel safe, supported and heard โ€” no matter their background or service eligibility.

Frequently Asked Questions

Therapeutic work with children and families. Play interventions, child and family counselling, sand play and narrative approaches, and trauma-informed and family violence-informed support are our specialism. We also deliver family support, NDIS-funded supports, aged care, home services and community transport.

No. We are an NDIS service provider but we are not an NDIS registered provider, and we do not hold registration with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. We provide NDIS-funded supports โ€” including Support Coordination, Core Supports and Capacity Building Supports โ€” where the participantโ€™s plan, funding arrangements and applicable requirements allow. In practice this generally means self-managed and plan-managed participants. If you are unsure how your plan is managed, send it to us and we will tell you honestly whether we can help.

From around 3 years of age. Our work with young children is play-based and developmentally appropriate rather than adult-style talking therapy. We counsel children, young people and adults, so support can continue as a child grows.

Children, young people, adults, families and older adults. We support both NDIS and non-NDIS clients with therapeutic services, child and family support, practical home assistance, transport, advocacy and lifestyle support. You do not need funding, a referral or a diagnosis to contact us.

Yes. All our supports are delivered using a trauma-informed, strengths-based and culturally responsive approach. In practice that means safety and pace come before content, nobody is required to disclose before they are ready, and cultural context is treated as central to the work rather than as background detail.

Across the Goulburn Region โ€” Lower and Upper Goulburn โ€” and Melbourne North, including Craigieburn, Epping, Wallan, Seymour and surrounding areas. We are a mobile service: support is delivered in agreed therapeutic spaces, the family home, schools and community venues rather than from a public office.

Contact us by phone, email or through the website. For therapy, the first conversation is with a parent or carer rather than the child. We will discuss what has been happening, tell you honestly whether we are the right fit, and guide you through the next steps.

Yes. We maintain strict confidentiality in line with professional and legal standards, with the standard limits: we must act where there is a risk of serious harm to a person or where child safety is involved. We explain this clearly at the first session.
